dannah+christian

best thing about jamie’s scrapbooking hobby?  we’ve met people from all over the world and right in our own backyard.  great friends, and sometimes, when we’re lucky, clients as well!  we’ll be shooting five such couples this summer in Australia but before we left we got to hang with the beautiful dannah (fellow scrapbooker) and christian in pasadena.  sigh, such a lovely couple:)

gemma+ed

gemma and ed were married at the beautiful park prive in orange county, we simply adored this venue which is tailored specifically for events and is ideally suited for weddings in particular.  From its lush gardens, modest vineyard, elegantly appointed dining area this venue is perfect.  add to that a beautiful bride wearing a veil beautiful enough to inspire me to want to get married all over again (to chris again of course) and you have the recipe for a simply stunning wedding.

smita mohindra of ethnic essence coordinated the wedding and also created the most amazing floral arrangements!

our blog is giving us MAJOR issues, so you can see more gorgeous details via the slideshow here.

andrew + macy, portraits

andrew and macy are just right together. from the moment we met them we were struck by their organization in the face of what are two extremely demanding careers, she a lawyer, he manager of multiple restaurants. they are, or always seemed to us to be completely in charge, focused and on point. they are nothing if not responsible. this is one of the reasons we had so much darn fun at their wedding, because in addition to being all these things they also happen to be surprising. in the midst of the longest wedding day jac has participated in to date, one that included two separate tea ceremonies, a western ceremony and a reception with 650 guests in attendance, andrew and macy managed to stay centered and a different side of their personalities emerged as they finally let loose. andrew is hands down the best dancing groomsman we’ve met yet, and his gorgeous bride, a former dancer herself, was right there with him. you get to know a lot about a couple on their wedding day, we’re so proud we got to share this day with these two amazing people and can’t wait to see them grow together in the years to come!  (as an aside, some of these were actually taken a few weeks before the wedding as we spent an afternoon exploring pasadena on a beautiful crisp day!)

take a peek

stumbled upon this lovely etsy shop linked on lisa warninger’s blog.  modern romance features custom designed accessories for brides created by the very talented christine.  and because every post is better with a picture, here’s one of my favorites from gemma’s wedding a few weekends ago.  more to come soon:)

the graduate (part 2)

a few hours after cameron graduated miss kira crossed the stage at the middle school. life is about to get interesting! we’re so proud of all kira is becoming and excited to see what the next four years bring.

kathy+kevin

kathy and kevin live in northern california but held their wedding here in southern california to be close to family.  fortunately for us, kathy’s gorgeous matron of honor went to high school with chris and was kind enough to recommend us (thanks jennifer!).  the wedding took place at calamigos equestrian center in burbank. lovely makeup done by marilyn.

kathy and kevin got ready at the hotel amarano in burbank, recently renovated, this has quickly become our favorite boutique hotel in the area.  the rooms are airy and light, and the lobby was to die for!

kathy and kevin chose to see each other before the ceremony, we are big proponents of making this a new tradition because it provides moments like this…i love this sequence, from nervous to surprise to embrace, classic!

such a fun and warm bridal party that contantly made us feel like one of the guests.  the girls all used the same beautiful material, but kathy encouraged them to design their own dresses, what a fabulous idea!  they turned out gorgeous! i love their little matching purses they each got as well!

the details of the wedding were beautiful! flowers by my wedding blooms. gorgeous cake by van’s bakery. we had a good time with their videographer as well.

kathy got ready in the bridal suite which is elegant but appropriately simple, sparsely furnished with soft leather chairs, a fireplace and this great accent piece, a red velvet loveseat is a perfect touch.

kathy is among other things, an avid dancer and has lots of avid dancer friends which made for a truly memorable reception party.

thanks kathy and kevin for the opportunity to document this amazing day, we were so touched by the warmth and open generosity of all your friends and family!

the graduate

cam graduated this morning from 5th grade, kira graduates this evening from middle school. an occasion worthy of some of my last polaroids. grab your loved ones and squeeze them tight, time sneaks up on you and is unsentimental and relentless.

italy

kathrin+(her)jamie

ser⋅en⋅dip⋅i⋅tous
–adjective
to come upon or found by accident; fortuitous…

we live in a small world made smaller everyday by that little obsession we all share called the internet.  many months ago kathrin met jamie and the two started dating.  one day she decided to google him to see what would pop up and that’s how she found us. in what has to be our favorite story of a client finding us, kathrin’s fiance has the same last name as chris and the same first name as me, jamie waters.  so a couple living in new york connected with a couple living in california, and this august we’ll be shooting their wedding in upstate new york.  recently chris caught up with kathrin and her jamie while traveling in new york, and the three spent a fun (albeit wet) evening walking, talking and enjoying each others company.

see slideshow here.

looking forward to meeting kathrin and (her) jamie this august!

therese + dee, the wedding

watching all the details of this wedding unfold, we could tell therese had been planning this day for a long time, and with the help of her super awesome coordinator, linda ly, the day went by flawlessly! therese stayed calm and relaxed throughout the day. here she is getting her makeup done by the very talented, liz.

from the way she asked her friends to be her bridesmaids, to the gifts she gave them on the day of the wedding, you could tell they all valued each other’s friendship!

it’s almost time!

cool guy details! cute socks, hats and cigars. i think therese had to do with the cute socks and hats and dee had to do with the cigars :)

dee and therese chose to do their first look prior to their ceremony at UCI, where they went to school.

therese’s dress was originally her mom’s dress. she had it altered into her own and it turned out stunning! she even had some leftover lace wrapped around her bouquet.

pretty flowers by jazz and amazing jewelry by disney.

one last stop before heading to the ceremony, love the tilt shift lens here!

the tennis court for group portraits, why yes!

the girls! so pretty! one of them even graduated that morning and rushed to the wedding! therese made their earrings and gave them a nice tote bag with dressing gowns and sandals. such a sweet group.

every time I come across these pictures of therese crying, it gives me chills! so romantic!

their polaroids:

therese is the ultimate DIY bride. the menus, invitations, programs, paper flowers- just a few examples of her creative work!

the date they were married :)

awesome first dance sequence, therese and dee performed a swing dance. love therese’s swing dress! DJ steve provided the music for the night.

be sure to watch their slideshow here for more pics, good times!

dee and therese, we adore you two! we are so excited for this new chapter of your lives, congratulations!
